We formed in June 2003 to provide a network for Jewish students across the religious and political spectrum, who oppose Israeli policies that undermine the livelihoods, human, civil and political rights of the Palestinian people. We are a national group but hope to launch local branches across the UK in the autumn.
We believe that such an organisation is necessary to give lie to the notion that defending Palestinian rights or criticising the policies of the Israeli government is anti-Semitic. This notion seems to be used extensively on campuses throughout the country in order to stifle discussion and debate. We aim to push issues about Israel, the Occupation and the settlements up the agenda, at campus and national level. As well as working with the parent organisation and its local branches, we hope to have our own student-focused campaigns and to foster public debates on campus.
We seek to work with other organisations as part of a mass movement in support of Palestinian rights, without necessarily endorsing everything they do and wish to encourage dialogue between Palestinian and Israeli, Muslim and Jewish students.
Members will be able to keep in touch via our email discussion groups.
